Tim Sands, a much-loved Lincolnshire paramedic who served for nearly four decades, has died aged an unconfirmed age. Remembering his compassion, family, organ donation, and lasting contribution to emergency care.

Tim Sands’ Career with East Midlands Ambulance Service

Sands began his career in 1988 with Lincolnshire Ambulance Service as an ambulance technician before progressing to become a paramedic. Based at Skegness Ambulance Station, he served communities across Lincolnshire and along the East Coast for nearly 40 years. Colleagues recalled his involvement in emergencies ranging from performing CPR to helping deliver babies.

According to published reports, Sands suffered a cardiac arrest while on duty and died on October 23, 2026. His death prompted tributes from colleagues who remembered not only his clinical experience but also his kindness, humour, and willingness to help others.

Family Remembers His Kindness and Generosity

Away from work, Tim cherished his life with his wife, Dawn. They enjoyed travelling together, particularly visiting the Lake District and going on cruises. His son, Luke, and wider family have been left to grieve a sudden loss that has deeply affected those who knew him.

One especially meaningful part of Sands’ legacy was his decision to become an organ donor. His family said the donation enabled three people to receive a new chance at life, allowing his commitment to helping others to continue beyond his death.

Colleagues Pay Tribute to a Much-Loved Paramedic

East Midlands Ambulance Service colleagues described Sands as a dedicated professional whose compassion extended to patients, families, and fellow emergency workers. David Forman, station manager for Skegness and Mablethorpe, remembered his smile, sense of humour, and readiness to stop for a friendly conversation. His contribution to the service was matched by the warmth he brought to everyday working relationships.

Fundraiser Supports Dawn and Luke

A fundraising appeal was established to help Dawn and Luke with funeral costs and essential household bills. The response reflects the affection Sands earned throughout his long career and the community’s wish to support his family during an exceptionally difficult time.

Tim Sands will be remembered for nearly four decades of service, the lives he helped save, and the generosity reflected in his final act of organ donation. His legacy lives on through his family, colleagues, and the people whose lives he touched.

Heartfelt condolences go out to Dawn, Luke, and all his loved ones. May they find comfort in the memories they shared and strength in the support surrounding them.
