DONCASTER, MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — October 18, 2026 — Reports of a group of young people allegedly carrying machetes at Westfield Doncaster have raised concerns among shoppers and members of the local community following a message claiming that police were at the scene.

The report described a group of girls and boys allegedly carrying machetes at the shopping centre. According to the message, police had reportedly arrived approximately 15 to 20 minutes before it was shared.

However, the allegations have not been independently verified. It remains unclear whether anyone was stabbed or injured, whether arrests were made, or whether the shopping centre was placed under lockdown.

At this stage, there is insufficient verified information to establish that a stabbing occurred at Westfield Doncaster on October 18.

Police Response and Incident Details

The reported police presence has prompted questions about what happened at the busy shopping destination in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

Authorities would need to clarify whether officers responded to reports of weapons, whether an altercation occurred, and whether any weapons were recovered or individuals taken into custody.

A report of people allegedly carrying machetes is not, by itself, confirmation that a stabbing or physical assault took place. Until reliable information becomes available, the circumstances should be treated as unconfirmed.

Were There Any Injuries or Arrests?

No independently verified information has been established regarding injuries or arrests connected with the reported October 18 incident.

It is also unclear whether the shopping centre introduced any temporary security measures or restrictions in response to the reported situation.

These details should not be presented as confirmed facts without reliable supporting information.

Advice for Westfield Doncaster Shoppers

Anyone at or near Westfield Doncaster who encounters a possible weapons-related threat should prioritise their safety and follow instructions from Victoria Police and shopping centre security.

People should avoid confronting anyone who appears to be carrying a weapon, move to a safe location if possible, and call Triple Zero (000) if there is an immediate danger.

Members of the public should also exercise caution when sharing allegations, photographs, or videos online, particularly when the circumstances have not been verified.

The reported incident has generated concern, but important questions remain unanswered. Confirmation from Victoria Police or another reliable source is needed to establish what happened, whether anyone was harmed, and whether any arrests followed.

Previous incidents at Westfield Doncaster do not establish the circumstances of this separate report. Readers should distinguish the current allegations from confirmed events and await reliable updates before drawing conclusions.
