A road-rage confrontation near Dolphin Mall in Sweetwater, Florida, led to the arrest of 23-year-old Miami resident Yerard Collado after a reported exchange of gunfire on March 21, 2026.

According to the account provided, Sweetwater police were called to the Courtyard by Marriott Miami at Dolphin Mall on Northwest 12th Street at approximately 7:45 p.m. Investigators said the dispute involved two motorists and escalated after one driver allegedly approached the other while carrying a firearm.

The incident occurred near the shopping centre, not inside Dolphin Mall. Collado was arrested in connection with the reported shooting, although the information provided does not establish the final outcome of the criminal case.

Police Response Near Courtyard by Marriott

According to the arrest report cited by Local 10 News, Collado called 911 and told the dispatcher that he had argued with another driver. He alleged that the other motorist got out of a vehicle and approached him while holding a gun.

Collado reportedly told the dispatcher that he fired at the approaching driver, who then returned to his vehicle and drove away.

Sweetwater officers arrived at the Courtyard by Marriott at approximately 7:45 p.m. and found Collado in the hotel lobby. Police said he spontaneously acknowledged being involved in a road-rage confrontation and firing shots outside his vehicle.

Bullet Damage Found on Honda Civic

Officers located a black Honda Civic associated with Collado during their investigation. The vehicle reportedly had four distinct bullet holes and shattered glass.

The other motorist involved in the confrontation had not been identified or located when the arrest report was described in the news coverage. Consequently, investigators did not have a publicly documented account from that individual.

Yerard Collado Arrested on Firearm Charge

Collado was arrested on a charge of discharging a firearm from a vehicle. After being transported to the Sweetwater Police Department, he declined to answer detectives’ questions without his attorney present.

He was subsequently held at the Metrowest Detention Center. Jail records cited in the March 23 report listed his bond as yet to be set.

The available reporting does not establish whether Collado was later convicted, acquitted or whether the charge was otherwise resolved. An arrest is not proof of guilt, and the allegations should be distinguished from any eventual court finding.

March Road-Rage Shooting Was Separate From November Mall Incident

There is an important distinction between the March incident and another disturbance reported at Dolphin Mall on November 1, 2026.

In the November incident, a man allegedly pulled out a firearm during a fight inside the mall’s outdoor food court. Sweetwater police said no shots were fired and confirmed that one person was taken into custody. That event was separate from the March road-rage shooting involving Collado.
