According to a report attributed to the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred shortly before 5 a.m. on eastbound US Highway 12 near milepost 327, approximately six miles west of Walla Walla.

Investigators said a 2006 Honda Civic left the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned. Patterson, who was travelling as a passenger, was taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, where she was pronounced dead.

Two Other Occupants Injured in the Rollover

The Washington State Patrol report identified the driver as 19-year-old Syrus K. Peppinger of Othello, Washington. A second passenger, 20-year-old Kaiomi M. Morris of Pasco, was also in the vehicle.

Both Peppinger and Morris sustained injuries and were transported to Providence St. Mary Medical Center. Troopers reported that both were wearing seatbelts, while Patterson was not. The Honda Civic was declared a total loss.
